This position supports the GKN Aerospace Muncie Environmental Health Safety (EHS) team with EHS related tasks.
- Assist EHS with facility regulatory and internal inspections/audits
- Assist in organizing, tracking, and seeking corrective action plan closure.
- Assist EHS with GKN Risk Assessment Program.
- Assist in recording safety training, incident investigations, and other EHS documentation as needed.
- Work with EHS to compile relevant EHS data, regulatory reports, and assures timely submittals of EHS data.
- Reporting responsibilities included, but are not limited to, Toxic Release Inventory, Tier II, Air Emissions Inventory, Hazardous Waste Reports, OSHA recordable accidents, etc.
- Interface with outside vendors, contractors and engineers regarding facilities, chemicals and other workplace EHS related matters.
- Help maintain and audit GKN internal EHS management systems.
- Work with EHS to help maintain and update the ThinkSafe Corner.
- Create reminders and memos, post RADAR event info, post relevant standard and policy info.
- Help research pricing and options on EHS related purchasing needs.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Undergrad student pursuing a degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field.
- High level of computer literacy, i.e. the ability to effectively use a computer for data gathering, analysis and presentation.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to be able to manage and communicate change effectively.
- Must possess excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Solid project management skills. Able to prioritize, work efficiently and accurately as well as provide and follow instructions.
- Ability to be onsite in Muncie 4 days per week, working up to 30 hours per week.
Additional Experience:
- General EHS Regulatory Knowledge (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Experience in a Manufacturing environment. Aerospace manufacturing preferred.
- Must demonstrate ability to keep reliable historical records.
- Demonstrated ability managing confidential information.
- Ability to work independently
