HDR is currently in need of a Water Resources Engineer to work as a member of our North Texas Water Business Group in either our Dallas, TX or Fort Worth, TX office locations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models including 1D/2D models to support planning and design level projects. This for a wide range of flood and erosion mitigation projects that includes flood risk assessments, flood control, stream and banks stabilization and restoration, complex culverts and bridges, dam breach, detention design, and design of urbanized storm drain collection systems.
  • Develop engineering design packages for construction including plans, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents.
  • Perform water resources master planning studies including multi-objective watershed-wide flood, erosion, and/or water quality master plans.
  • Preparation of technical and non-technical reports and presentations including visualization of data.
  • Identify flood mitigation grant funding project opportunities and provide technical support for application processes.
  • Task-level management, leading and directing technical staff, as well as hands-on project engineering for all phases on a wide variety of water resource projects.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required
  • PE License
  • 4+ years of experience in water resources/stormwater engineering required
  • Proficient in 1D hydrologic and hydraulic modeling including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (including RAS Mapper).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite, GIS and/or AutoCAD and/or Microstation and Geopak by Bentley.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and good internal review processes (attention to detail)
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Civil 3D experience preferred
  • 2D experience preferred
  • Transportation drainage experience preferred
