Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM) is a unique not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to positively change people's attitudes about blindness. We do this by offering comprehensive rehabilitation programs, diverse employment opportunities, and services for blind and low vision people of all ages.

Established in 1908 by the Maryland General Assembly as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Blind Industries and Services of Maryland's (BISM) purpose is to positively change people's attitudes about blindness.

BISM nurtures a culture that promotes open communication, teamwork and trust while offering comprehensive rehabilitation programs and evolving employment opportunities for blind and low vision people of all ages. Working with our associates to achieve independence and personal growth is our most important objective, because we believe in the powerful capabilities of all blind people.

Each year we provide programs and services that serve over 2000 blind Maryland citizens. BISM employs 400+ exceptional associates at our eleven facilities in Maryland, Delaware, the District of Columbia and Kentucky, where we manufacture the highest quality products.
