Company Overview

Fort Worth Teaching Fellows is a highly selective program that trains accomplished professionals and recent college graduates to become high-impact teachers in schools serving disadvantaged students throughout our city. As a Fellow, you will begin making a difference for students right away, joining a network of dynamic teachers working to end a legacy of educational inequality in Fort Worth.

We know that teacher quality is the most critical factor in raising student achievement for all students, regardless of background or socioeconomic status. An effective teacher has the ability to change lives by accelerating learning so that struggling students can catch up to their peers. Too often, however, our highest-need students do not have enough good teachers. The Fort Worth Teaching Fellows program is changing this reality by recruiting and training excellent teachers to make a career in our highest-need classrooms.

Who We Want

We seek passionate and accomplished individuals from all professional and academic backgrounds to make a commitment to achieving academic growth with students in Fort Worth’s traditionally underserved schools and communities. As the preferred alternative certification program of Fort Worth ISD, we offer an accelerated pathway into the teaching profession that culminates with certification through TNTP Academy after your successful first year in the classroom.

Why Join?

We are...

  • Rigorous…  Our program includes a six-week summer Pre-Service Training that includes real-world teaching experience and practical strategies to help all students make academic progress. Then, during your first year in the classroom, you will enroll in TNTP Academy, our acclaimed, classroom-centered preparation program that is specifically designed to support teachers working with high-need students.
  • Accelerated… After successfully completing Pre-Service Training, Fellows are eligible to begin teaching full-time in the fall -- earning the full salary and benefits of a first-year teacher.  Fellows who successfully complete all program requirements will be recommended for their standard certification at the end of the school year.
  • Selective…Because we know that great teachers are the key to student success, our program is highly competitive—admitting only 13% of applicants in 2011. By contrast, the average acceptance rate among other certification programs in Texas is about 80%. District administrators and principals know and appreciate our selectivity, which will distinguish you from other applicants during your initial job search and throughout your career.
  • Supportive…  Our staff work closely with Fellows throughout the training and hiring process, providing test preparation and job search support during Institute, and later observing Fellows in their classrooms to ensure they get personal feedback and guidance. We take pride in our staff, who are deeply commitetd to ensuring that Fellows have the resources and support they need to  build skills and achieve classroom excellence.
  • Mission-driven… As a non-profit focused on narrowing the achievement gap, we are well-positioned to offer a high-quality and highly reputed program at a very reasonable tuition rate. Applicants are not required to pay an application fee. Once accepted, Fellows are required to pay a $390 enrollment fee, but they are not required to pay any additional fees to Fort Worth Teaching Fellows until they have secured a teaching position. At just $4,455 for tuition, we are able to offer a program that prepares excellent teachers at a highly competitive cost.
