The Environment & Development Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking a mid-level Communications Specialist II to support its six strategic initiatives for Sustainable Environmental Excellence: Materials Management, Natural Resources, Public Works, Regional Codes, Watershed Management, and Development Excellence. Primary work functions include social media, animation, and graphic design. Applicants wishing to be considered for this position should apply online at. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Creating animation explainer videos (using Vyond Studio) and natural resource-related visualization concepts for a variety of media including social media, PowerPoint presentations, meetings, etc.
  • Edit meeting webinars
  • Be comfortable with project management for the marketing efforts of the department
  • Script writing and coordination with voiceover professionals
  • Leading creative photoshoots, including photography logistical coordination/scheduling
  • Developing other creative elements such as logos, fliers, signage, social media content and infographics in coordination with planning staff
  • Managing the content on department YouTube channel and social media platforms (Facebook Instagram and Twitter).
  • Managing the multiple social media channels for the department's campaign initiatives
  • Preparing advertising campaigns that will include print, video, and digital images
  • Understand how to use Google Analytics, Facebook Business, Twitter Analytics, and Pinterest Analytics
  • Have an operating knowledge of Google Ads and keyword research
  • Have an operating knowledge of how to boost Facebook posts and run Facebook Ads
  • Serving as a representative of NCTCOG's goals and mission while in the field or at events
  • Coordinating public outreach events for the department
  • Ordering outreach materials for the department following procurement procedures
  • Providing customer service, presentations, and correspondence to the general public, partners, and stakeholders



Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Technical understanding of how to operate a professional video camera
  • Technical understanding of micro four/thirds and/or DLSR camera
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented, organized, and ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must be a self-starter and an ability to adapt


Required Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience required
  • Bachelor's degree required


Compensation:

  • $40,446.00-$53,000.00 - depending on skills, qualifications and experience
  • FLSA: Exempt
