Job Description

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics, and Children's Health Dallas seeks to hire an outstanding individual to join our thriving, collegial, academic group in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology as the 12th pediatric nephrologist. As part of a cutting edge medical school, our division nurtures clinically focused nephrologists and NIH-funded basic scientists. While this position is predominantly clinical, there are many opportunities to participate in clinical research, educational endeavors and quality improvement projects, and to collaborate with basic scientists within the medical school.

We have one of the largest and most modern dialysis units in the country with 60-65 chronic dialysis patients divided between hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Our main hospital has a large intensive care patient population housed in the PICU, NICU, and CVICU for which we provide consultation and CRRT. We also have a robust outpatient general nephrology program, multidisciplinary stone center, and an active kidney transplant program. We perform 15-25 kidney transplants per year and follow more than 200 kidney transplant patients. We have an ACGME accredited fellowship program funded by Children's Health. We have 6 advanced practice providers that support our division in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Faculty members are responsible for attending inpatient, dialysis and ambulatory services. Responsibilities include supervision and teaching of pediatric residents, medical students and pediatric nephrology fellows from UT Southwestern Medical School. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the state of Texas and must be board eligible or certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology. Academic rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.
