Job Description
Director, Data Product Delivery
The Director, Data Product Delivery leads CDAO's agile value delivery teams leveraging Ops Research techniques, insight delivery, ad hoc reporting, compliant data set querying and overall data expertise to support prioritized business use cases designed to support business objectives. Overall, this team will drive Comerica's ability to maximize use of data as an asset on short- and medium-term strategic initiatives, balancing long-term strategic initiatives being executed out of the Data COE. This leader provides consultative-level services for senior executives and other enterprise stakeholders to understand their data and analytics support requirements. With an understanding of these requirements, the Data Product Delivery leader directs multiple agile teams in delivering solutions to meet business needs. The Director will need to prioritize based on documented business benefit while finding opportunities to deliver solutions benefiting multiple organizations through asset reuse and scaling. This leader must also translate business needs into long-term requirements to serve as critical input into the broader CDAO data strategy.
As a people leader, the Director of Data Product Delivery must develop an agile execution culture within their organization. This leader must ensure their teams have strong business acumen, technical skills and an ability to understand data in business context.
Responsibilities
Data and Analytics Consulting
  • Builds strong relationships with senior business stakeholders and their teams to understand business objectives and potential threats to achieving those objectives.
  • Advises business stakeholders on how to leverage enterprise data and analytical capabilities to drive business value through fact-based decision-making.
  • Frames business problems for senior leaders, business teams, CDAO and IT that enables cross-organizational execution of data and analytics engagements and initiatives delivering business value and impact.
  • Strategically defines and evolves a catalog of solution types, spanning analytics, decision science, business intelligence and reporting that supports business needs.
  • Provides executive oversight of these solution types across federated teams to ensure consistency in complex solution delivery.
  • Informs the enterprise data strategy by translating business knowledge gained from stakeholder relationships into blueprints, artifacts and insights that articulates business requirements for data and analytics.
Business Value Delivery
  • Leads the scoping of multiple engagements and agile delivery increments to deliver business value leveraging advanced data and analytical capabilities.
  • Builds out, develops, and deploys multiple agile delivery teams that deliver business value and impact through data and analytical engagements.
  • Prioritizes resource allocation based on a deep understanding of business needs and how to drive maximum value leveraging available agile team capacity.
  • Defines quantifiable benefits at a portfolio level and ensures the ongoing measurement of delivered business value.
Data Democratization
  • Mentors Enterprise Data practitioners and casual users in data and analytics best practices to accelerate the enterprise use of data and insights.
  • Promotes the use of available enterprise business intelligence and data to support a fact-based decision-making culture.
  • Proactively consults with teams/organizations on enterprise data assets available for enterprise consumption to increase the use of certified data sources in decision making.
  • Informs CDAO data strategy and IT roadmaps to increase the availability of enterprise analytical, insights and data resources.
Leadership and Development
  • Builds highly skilled high performing teams of data and analytical resources, setting the tone for the strategic use of data as an enterprise asset.
  • Ensures teams have strong business acumen, technical skills, and an ability to understand data in business context.
  • Serves as a strategic executive presence on enterprise practitioner forums and committees to accelerate certified data usage.
  • Directs and manages staff performance and development processes.

Qualifications
  • 4 year Bachelor Degree
  • 12 years of progressively responsible experience
  • 10 or more years experience in decision science, analytics, or business intelligence
  • 10 or more years Leading large, complex/critical projects
  • 10 or more years influencing strategy for large organizations
  • 8 years Agile/scrum delivery methodologies
  • 8 years Technology experience and efficiency
