Department OverviewMotorola's Software Enterprise organization is a fast-paced organization at the front line of driving growth throughout Motorola Solutions. The Command Center Software team is building public safety solutions that bring the capabilities of the suite together into a single, user-centered workflow and help public safety manage data across their operation.Job Description

This role will be responsible for filling the agile product owner role for the PremierOne Platform and Tools products.

They use their technical knowledge and background to engage with assigned Engineering teams, define user stories and acceptance criteria, and manage the priority of assigned team backlogs.

Responsibilities

  • Involved in initiative and epic refinement as a member of the extended Product Management team.

  • Plays a significant role in release planning, including updates to the team backlog, reviewing vision, Roadmap, and participating in content presentations to assigned engineering team.

  • Has the primary responsibility for building, editing, and maintaining the team backlog, including user stories, defects and research spikes.

  • Reviews and prioritizes the backlog as part of the prep work for release and sprint planning, including coordination of dependencies with other POs.

  • Maintains proper flow of features, user stories, and acceptance criteria in the backlog.

  • Collaborate with their team to detail user stories with acceptance criteria.

  • Agree on accepted story completion, including validating that the story meets acceptance criteria and that it complies with its Definition of Done (DoD).

  • Understand the scope of needed research spikes and collaborate with Engineering to assist with decision-making and sequencing of the critical technological infrastructures.

  • Collaborate with their team and any other stakeholders in the team demo.

  • Participate in the appropriate agile ceremonies.

Desired Skills

  • Agile/Scrum experience

  • Technical Knowledge of Enterprise Hardware Platforms.

  • Firm understanding of software design, user interaction, and user interface design.

  • Deep technical knowledge in software development methodologies.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are a necessity

  • Polished presentation skills for internal and external audiences

  • Proactive, enthusiastic attitude toward challenging problems

  • Capable of quickly evaluating and prioritizing new projects alongside customer feedback

  • Strong ability to take complex user requirements and distill them into a format that can be understood by developers as well as non-technical staff

  • Ability to research and analyze project requirements from various stakeholders

  • Ability to understand market trends, financial data, and customer needs and assess competitive intelligence data.

  • Build consensus among stakeholders

  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a diverse team spread across multiple continents in a fast-moving environment

  • Ability to multi-task among various assignments

  • Understanding of product management and product ownership principles

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

We are open to candidates working remotely located in the US.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in product ownership /product management.

  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer
