Description

ECBuild is seeking a Preconstruction MEP Estimator to join the team in our Dallas-Fort Worth Office.


The Preconstruction MEP Estimator (PCMEPE) is responsible for preconstruction phase MEP estimating and planning services associated with Construction Management at Risk delivery methods. The Preconstruction MEP Estimator works directly with the Preconstruction Manager, Owner, Design Team and the Operations Team. This position develops MEP FP construction cost models and estimates throughout all phases of design as well as schedule and logistics plans to support the overall preconstruction effort. The Preconstruction MEP Estimator will closely coordinate these services with the construction operations team.


Essential Functions:

  • Quantity take off in 2D and 3D applications
  • Analyze plans and specifications to understand labor, material, and equipment costs in order to prepare professional and accurate cost estimates in the schematic, design development, and construction document phases of design
  • Understand and develop unit costs accurately
  • Promote customer relations with Owner and Design Team
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors
  • Solid market knowledge and market pricing
  • Solicit subcontractor pricing and verify scope of work
  • Create appropriate bid packaging/scopes of work that align with the project
  • Assist Business Development with preparation of technical proposals as well as preparation and delivery of oral presentations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years construction estimating/preconstruction MEP FP focused experience
  • Excellent time management skills and a high attention to detail
  • Experience with Cost OS, mc2, Pro Contractor Navisworks Manage, BIM, Pro Contractor or similar computerized estimating software, PDF Mark-up, I-sf, and Primavera (P6), or similar applications.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel
  • Proficient with Bluebeam
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel and work at various locations
  • Ability to work well with diverse, multi-disciplined groups

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Project Types: Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Laboratory, MEP and Commercial Experience is a plus

Additional Eligibility/Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
