PURPOSE:

Under direct supervision, the Maintenance Technician I, is an entry level position and is responsible

maintaining and servicing our company's fleet of vehicles and equipment. You will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the safety and reliability of our vehicles. This position requires a skilled individual with a strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to quality workmanship. Performs duties under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and Leads.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures operation of mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical and electrical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on a variety of vehicles, including trucks, vans, and specialized equipment. Perform oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and other preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment. Identify and troubleshoot problems efficiently to minimize downtime. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and other vehicle components. Replace faulty parts and components as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Conduct safety inspections to identify and address potential hazards or compliance issues. Ensure vehicles meet safety and emissions standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed, including parts used, labor hours, and equipment condition. Complete service reports and maintenance logs.
  • Respond to breakdowns and emergencies promptly. Perform on-site repairs and arrange for towing or transportation when necessary.
  • Keep tools and equipment in good working condition and report any issues or needs for replacement. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to all company policies and safety regulations. Stay up to date with industry standards and best practices for fleet maintenance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned based on the business needs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent to general education degree (GED)
  • 1 - 2 years of related experience including vocational training in automotive, or diesel

mechanics preferred

  • Or 2-3 years equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of relevant certifications, such as ASE or equivalent is a plus
  • Valid driver's license, adhere to DOT regulations, CDL Commercial is a plus

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to work safely in a shop environment. Familiarity with safety regulations for vehicle maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair complex issues. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts in outside weather conditions.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
