The Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Engineer is responsible for maintaining, auditing, refining, and improving an asset inventory of data center products including: cabinets, receptacles, breakers, power distribution units, uninterruptible power supplies, generators and HVAC cooling systems. This critical role contributes to the ongoing success of our DCIM platform so our customers have proper visibility into their mission-critical environments.


Responsibilities

  • Support internal teams with capacity analytics, technical solutions and custom DCIM report generation.
  • Coordinate spot-audits with internal teams to improve the accuracy of the DCIM database.
  • Implement complex DCIM solutions to accurately capture unique customer environments.
  • Maintain DCIM asset records to accurately reflect the physical state of the data center facility.
  • Develop DCIM training material for internal end-users of the platform.
  • Perform specialized projects to enhance DCIM reporting functionality.
  • Design and maintain visual floorplan representations of the deployed data center assets.
  • Provide technical feedback on automation opportunities in regard to asset upkeep and DCIM management.
  • Cross-department training of internal teams to ensure continued upkeep of the deployed data center assets and capacities.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of system upgrades.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working with DCIM software.
  • Professional experience working with BACnet, JSON and Modbus data.
  • Strong understanding of data center asset types including: cabinets, receptacles, cages, power distribution infrastructure, and cooling infrastructure.
  • Capable of independent problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with local field teams across multiple timezones.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate and distill complex technical details into simple explanations.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Works well independently and on a team.
  • Requires a high level of commitment to customer service, internal and external.
  • Expert application software skills including MS Word, MS Excel, AutoCAD, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Flexible and adapts well to a constantly changing environment.
  • Must be able to manage multiple aggressive deadlines.
  • Must be able to understand and read construction documents.
  • Business minded and able to maintain a commercial focus.
