Our team in Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Senior Systems and Flight Controls Engineer to join them. You will report to the Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work schedule at our business unit, Genesys Aerosystems, located in Mineral Wells, TX. Genesys Aerosystems delivers customer-focused technologies and customized solutions for Special Mission, Military & Defense, Military Trainer, Business, and General Aviation industries.

As a Senior Systems and Flight Controls Engineer on the Genesys Aerosystems Autopilot Design engineering team, you will get to provide individual technical contribution and engineering leadership in the development of advanced avionics and flight control systems, with primary responsibility for model-based development of the core control laws for our autopilot systems. You will be involved in the certification of our products. Your analytical skills and your ability to plan and lead engineering activities will be challenged on a daily basis. We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated, responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within a highly collaborative and fast paced environment.

To be considered for Senior Systems and Flight Controls Engineer, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or other related engineering degrees with 5-8 years of experience. Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and/or related experience may be considered.
  • Must have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Prior experience with Flight Control Law/Autopilot Development, Control Law software coding, and flight dynamics model development.
  • Solid understanding of classical and modern control laws, software coding of control laws, and techniques for autopilot development
  • Experience working under minimal supervision on complex projects involving Engineering, Operations, and Program Management teams.
  • Experience working closely with customers to solve challenges with their aircraft and systems.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems and compliance in a regulated industry.
  • Aviation industry experience and familiarity with FAA certification preferred.
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% to support projects.

As a Senior Systems and Flight Controls Engineer, you will:

  • Design and develop model-based autopilot control laws for rotorcraft and airplanes
  • Develop software coding of control laws.
  • Prepare stability and control analyses.
  • Review technical documentation and evaluate proposed product design changes to determine the impact on overall product lifecycle.
  • Prepare system and subsystem analyses and requirements specifications.
  • Prepare system and subsystem modeling and performance analyses.
  • Support certification projects: TSO Application, Major/Minor change determination and change submittal
  • Create technical documentation. Research information on equipment and cost for project proposals. May collect and analyze information on competitor product performance. May perform field testing for new applications.
  • Participate in and/or lead special projects, as assigned, including project leadership of engineering projects across the product line.
  • You may also conduct research and prepare reports based on findings, to include recommendations or alternative proposals for action.

Salary Range and Pay Disclaimer: The base pay range for this opportunity is $90,000 - 130,000 per year.

The base pay range represents the low and high end of the Moog pay range or indicates the hourly rate for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on many factors such as skills, experience, certifications and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
