Description

The Quality Assistant is responsible for implementing portion control, net weight control, and MAP control during the production process to ensure adherence to product recipes. The Quality Assistant will monitor employee adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in the production rooms.

Essential Competencies:

FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY:

  • Execute assigned food safety, quality, and continuous improvement activities to support the SQF requirements, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.
  • Responsible for food safety and quality during production.
  • Participate in process improvement Kaizen or similar events.
  • Follows all company policies and standard work procedures.
  • Assist in preparing the production line for shift start-up with Assistance from the Line Controller. This includes bringing scales, O2/CO2 analyzer, thermometers, tubs, trays, and utensils to the line.
  • Follow all GMPs and monitor GMP practices in the production rooms.
  • Monitors line and equipment cleanliness prior to start of day and after each break, notifying the Line Controller or Production Lead of any issues.
  • Conducts portion control, net weight, MAP, temperature, and scale accuracy at the line according to standard work. All checks will be done timely according to standard work. Report problems to the Line Controller or Production Lead and QC. Severity of the issue may warrant contacting the production and quality supervisors.
  • Ensures line sanitizer dip stations have been filled prior to shift start up and changed at break or more often as needed, to ensure proper PPM strength.
  • Monitor reprocessing/rework processes for adherence to standard work procedures.
  • Assist other Quality Assistants as needed.
  • Communicate with the QC throughout the day for any changes or issues that may arise.

GMP TRAINING AND PPE:

  • Completes all personal safety and food safety/GMP related training.
  • Works safely and wears appropriate attire for QC position and PPE.

  • Trays, tubs, small utensils
  • Weight Scale
  • Mocon Gas Analyzer
  • iPad
  • Slicing Equipment
  • Digital Thermometer
  • Miscellaneous small utensils

Requirements:

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to communicate orally and in writing using in English.
  • Previous Quality Control experience in a food-manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • This position will be using compliance software on an iPad.
  • Basic math skills required and ability to learn basic SPC skills required.
  • Basic computer skills Microsoft Word and Excel desired.
  • Ability to analyze problems and find solutions.
  • Must be able to work independently, complete work in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to maintain an organized work area.

Preferred Experience:

  • 95% of workday is spent on the RTE floor.
  • Zero Safety Incidents of Team members.
  • Overtime as required.

Physical Environment:

  • Must be able to work in cool conditions (35 to 45 degrees).
  • Must be able to be on feet majority of the day.
  • Must be able to bend, turn, push, pull.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to reach overhead.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include occasional weekends.
