As a Software Engineer you will:

  • Participate in design/technical reviewsto make recommendations on proposed engineering changes.

A week in the life of a Software Engineer:

  • Provide a knowledge bridge between software developers andoperators to address specificissues affecting capabilities.
  • Draft technical reports and provide reviews, evaluations, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with Fleet users to provide recommendations for prioritization of Software discrepancies to the program office.
  • Review System Software Requirements mapping to Software Configuration Items to ensure all requirements are addressed.
  • Investigate the feasibility of alternate software design approaches to determine the best balanced solution.
  • Support development ofoperator interface to ensure the human machine interface meets the needs of the operators.
  • Participate in formal system testing activities.
  • Monitor, investigate, and track software problem reports, originating from operational users and contractor software test engineers.
  • Participate in failure analysis discussions and propose corrective actions to address deficiencies.
Job Requirements
  • Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited collegeor universityor 10 years relevant experience with at least 3 years of software build and scripting experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communications skills, and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Must be able and willing to travel to northern Virginia approximately 25% of the time
  • 6 years of experience supporting SAP programs and an ACAT I-D program
  • Experience with Python programming
  • Container (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • CompTIA security+ / CISSP
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 operating system
  • Understanding of OS operation in a cross-platform environment (Linux/Windows)

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $150,000-180,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
