Job Summary

Provides systems engineering support for Altice Fiber Networks. Ensures Altice Fiber Networks will support the level of service and feature sets expected by our customers. Ensures all fiber documentation is accessible, organized, and understandable.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize existing and future fiber optic plant in a cost-effective manner, while maximizing revenue generation, integrity, and reliability.
  • Manage all modifications to the Altice fiber optic network, from initial design to final documentation.
  • Determining start and stop points for new fiber optic cable construction, determining fiber counts, and approving routes.
  • Providing or assisting in job costing.
  • Determining the need for and specifying any and all fiber specific equipment.
  • Ensuring fiber optic cables are installed in a manner that minimizes risk of damage and is consistent with industry standards.
  • Planning and executing fiber splicing in a way that minimizes customer impact and follows all applicable guidelines.
  • Providing final documentation to all necessary departments/personnel.
  • Conduct evaluation, cost analysis, selection, engineering, and network design of optical equipment, including optical cable, termination systems, enclosures, optical splitters, optical filters, optical multiplexers, and related peripherals.
  • Provide input regarding the evaluation, selection and procurement of fiber optic transmission and other network equipment.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal departments and organizations.
  • Assist in the establishment of, and adherence to network performance measurements and goals, as well as preventive maintenance standards.
Qualifications
  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum two years engineering experience.
  • Must have current, working knowledge of Fiber optic principles, both theory and practical - Fiber optic design and architecture - Fiber optic splicing, including use of splitters and filters - Fiber optic test equipment.
  • Proven ability to build working relationships in cross-functional working groups.
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including an ability to present and discuss technical, functional, and managerial information clearly and concisely.
  • Must be proficient in use of standard computer hardware and software systems such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio, Google Earth, database, and CAD programs.
  • Preferred Experience - Experience with testing, troubleshooting, and splicing fiber optic cables and equipment; Leadership experience.
