Job Summary

The Fire Safety and Maintenance Technician will ensure the integrity of fire alarm systems by promptly responding to alarms, overseeing battery maintenance, coordinating repair services, and maintaining meticulous records. Additionally, this role will oversee the upkeep and repair of light poles and posts. The position entails a variety of daily maintenance tasks and includes providing support to plumbing, HVAC, and electrical technicians as requested.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to all fire alarms, reset panels as needed, facilitate minor repairs, and recordkeeping
  • Serve as point of contact for the Fire Department and respond to emergency calls to assist in gaining entrance to buildings and fire panels
  • Perform ongoing preventative maintenance and manage annual testing on fire alarm and fire suppression systems
  • Perform light pole and light post banner changes and maintenance
  • Submit a daily log sheet depicting the day's activities to the supervisor
  • Serve as an after hours contact, respond to emergency campus for the University Police Department and other emergency calls
  • Perform work order requests for maintenance and repairs on the buildings and furnishings throughout the campus


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience
  • One (1) or more years of related work experience


Proposed Salary

$16.01 - $20.00 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

ABILITIES

  • Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
  • Ability to clearly speak and present ideas, proposals, and recommendations
  • Ability to read and understand building blueprints, technical literature, specifications and standard
  • Ability to read and use a tape rule, level, square, hand tools, shop tools, and bench tools
  • Ability to send and receive email and texts, take photographs, and to create document files
  • Ability to use or learn to use a scissor lift and/or aerial lift

KNOWLEDGE
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
  • Knowledge of Low Volt systems and testing

SKILLS
