Position Overview

The Reliability Engineering Team is responsible for the overall health of critical systems across Vantage global facilities. For each of the major systems Electrical, Mechanical, and Controls, the Reliability Engineering team is responsible for ensuring success in the commissioning stages of new construction, evaluating, and improving the reliability and performance of existing critical infrastructure, sustaining equipment operational availability through maintenance programming, providing technical support to the Site Operations Teams. Reliability Engineering also provides systems reliability and maintainability feedback to the Design Engineering teams for future design considerations.

Position Description

The Manager, Critical Systems Training is responsible for the development and delivery of training programs for data center operations and maintenance staff. This includes ensuring that all staff are properly trained on critical systems such as electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems, as well as company policies and procedures. The Manager, Critical Systems Training for Data Centers will play a key role in ensuring that our data center operations and maintenance staff are properly trained and equipped to handle any issues that may arise and to ensure that operations run smoothly and efficiently. Vantage has expressed interest in self performing critical system maintenance. The Manager, Critical Systems Training will determine adequate training scope to meet this key initiative with consideration to both proficiency and safety. This is a manager of people and will not only need to stand up the program but stand up a team of experts as well to help facility training.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and implement training programs for data center operations and maintenance staff, focusing on critical electrical, mechanical, control, and fire protection systems.

  • Ensure that all staff stays in sync with company policies and procedures related to data center operations and maintenance.

  • Lead training budgets including vendor and equipment specific training and CFT technical certifications.

  • Continuously assess and improve training programs to ensure they meet the evolving needs of the company and staff.

Duties

  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for critical system training.

  • Evaluate critical system operating demands and identify training skills required to meet those demands.

  • Develop the company Learning Management Systems.

  • Deploy training programs, including setting up users and tracking skills and proficiencies.

  • Lead training and training programs, including Personnel Qualification Standards tiering and training proficiencies.

  • Prepare training material and deliver training sessions in both group and individual settings.

  • Generate reports and analyze team performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for the training programs and trainees.

  • Maintain relationships with procurement, vendors, and contractors providing training services.

  • Evaluate vendor provided training and determine if training is applicable to Site Operations.

  • Track and report on individual training completion and site operator effectiveness.

  • Coordinate with subject matter experts to ensure that all training materials are accurate and up to date.

  • Understand Site Sequence of Operations and provide training and understanding.

  • Review Site Drawings and User Manuals and provide maintenance training in line with equipment specifics.

  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure timely and effective technical training.

  • Run drills and ensure Critical Facilities Technicians are practiced in safe incident response actions.

  • Collaborate multi-functionally with Health and Safety, Construction, and Operations to ensure the training is scheduled for new hires.

  • Conduct individual and team skills gap analyses in the areas of Critical System Training, Maintenance Procedures, Emergency Operating Procedures, Troubleshooting and Analysis.

  • Effectively manage the training budget.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in critical systems operations and maintenance, servicing or managing the service of power, cooling, and fire protection systems.

  • Minimum of 5 Years of experience in an Operations Management or Technical Leadership role.

  • Minimum of 3 of experience working in technical training and development capacity.

  • Strong organizational, communication and presentation skills

  • Strong digital literacy and ability to work with various Learning Management systems.

  • Ability to work in a high-level collaborative environment while promoting a teamwork mentality.
